Children of Worth Orphanage Home began in October of 2015 when Pastor Harry Kabugho found three young orphaned children sleeping on the streets one night in the Gulu District, Uganda. This village was demolished by The Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), a rebel group led by Joseph Kony. The eldest child’s parents were murdered by the LRA, and the other childrens’ parents died from the AIDS virus. With permission, Pastor Harry Kabugho took the children into his home and soon after, founded the orphanage. As of today, the orphanage now homes nearly two dozen children.
During the next two years, Pastor Harry worked diligently and sacrificially at the orphanage. The children were fed well with a vegetable garden, were sent to school, felt belonged to a family in a home filled with love and joy, but most importantly, they were being discipled and being raised up to know Jesus Christ.
In January of 2016, Pastor Harry received the devastating news of being diagnosed with throat cancer. After a long battle, Pastor Harry went home to be with our Lord in March of 2017. The children were left in the loving care of Muwanga Geoffrey Silva, who has and still faithfully cares for the children, sends them to school and continues to raise them to know the Lord.
God has always given me strength to endure lots of pain, loss, and so many challenges in my life. Yet I have not given up on my trust in Jesus. The strength to keep me going comes from the Holy Spirit which empowers me when I pray and gives me the peace of mind.
